Samba Galêz has hosted and run five Welsh Encontro events - the most recent in Barry, South Wales on the first May Bank Holiday weekend of 2025.
The band has had several television appearances, including being featured on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, and we regularly get bookings for sporting occasions, festivals (Small Nations, Croissant Neuf, Sheep Festival) carnivals, and corporate events.
Samba Galêz has also attended other Encontro events, including the Drogheda Samba Festival, Dublin Samba Festival, and playing in the New Year in Edinburgh. We have also previously taken part in the Manchester Encontro and in Brighton Encontros.
Our regular gigs include Pride parades, winter lantern parades, carnivals (e.g. Butetown Carnival, Monmouth Carnival), marathons, and FAW pre-match entertainment. Within Cardiff, and the South Wales area, Samba Galêz is synonymous with carnival.
Regular busks in Cardiff city centre (especially during rugby internationals and as fundraisers in times of international disasters) - brighten up the day for shoppers and tourists alike with our eclectic and innovative sound.
