Around 2,000 people are expected to attend the first ever Welsh Recovery Walk around Cardiff City Centre to celebrate the fact that people can and do recover from substance use disorders and mental health problems.
The event aims to promote the benefits to society of the effective treatments for alcoholism and substance misuse. It seeks to spread the positive message that prevention works and that recovery is a reality.
The Recovery Walk is, in essence, a civil rights issue and will go a long way towards countering the considerable amount of prejudice, discrimination and stigmatization of people with addiction and mental health problems that still exists in society.
The 1.5 mile walk, which weaves its way through Cardiff City centre, begins and ends in front of City Hall where refreshments will be served after the speeches and entertainment

Venue Description
Built in the English Renaissance style, City Hall was opened in 1906, a year after Cardiff was granted its city status. Within the magnificent exterior carved from Portland stone can be found elegant rooms to meet the expectations of conference, function and event organisers. This majestic building offers a spacious venue for large-scale events yet smaller rooms are also available for more intimate gatherings and syndicate sessions
