Marcia has been working in the field of dance as a performer, choreographer and teacher spanning a period of over thirty years.

She developed a particular interest in how movement and dance can reflect and shape our state of mind and studied Dance and Movement Therapy at Roehampton Institute, London in addition to her earlier studies in Psychology at PUC University, Rio de Janeiro.

She has been a pioneer of Brazilian dance in the UK. Back in the late 80’s in London, Samba, Gafieira and Lambada were the main styles she taught and performed with her dance group Brazil Tropical.

For the past 8 years she has been working extensively with Raz Jayasuriya in the Edun Ara project where the traditional dances and rhythms of the Orixas (deities from the Camdomble/Santeria religion) are presented in a contemporary format.
